Philosophy.
The dental restorative industry has seen tremendous improvement in the recent years through technological development such as CAD/CAM, 3D printing, and CT scanning. This has made the production of more esthetic yet durable dental prosthetics possible. Yet the quality of the final product will be different depending on the people who operate the machinery, design the prostheses, and the technician that finishes them. It is true that automation has allowed the production to be sped up and be available for lower costs, but are such products really the best for the patients? Every oral cavity, every dental layout is different. A good dental prosthesis does not only provide satisfaction through esthetics, but balances out the esthetics, function, structure, and biology.
My belief is that it is the responsibility of the dentist and the dental technician to ensure that such is provided to the patients. I believe that this can be achieved by planning treatment by communicating well with the dentist, creating a diagnostic wax up, and making a provisional restoration. Once the provisional has been adjusted in the mouth to patient satisfaction, we will employ the newest technologies and materials with abundant experience and skill to fabricate a patient-specific dental prostheses that balance the esthetics, function, structure, and biology. I would love to be a part of the dental team, where the patient, the dentist, the dental assistant, the hygienist, and the dental technician are all smiling when the treatment is completed.
